What is World Wide Band?
World Wide Band (WWB) is a music collaboration platform that lets musicians from anywhere in the world record together — without being in the same room. Each musician records their part at home, against a shared backing track, and the project owner brings everything together into one finished piece.
Whether you play guitar in Tennessee, sing in Berlin, or mix in Tokyo — WWB gives you the tools to create real music with real people.
Our Mission
We believe geography should never be a barrier to making music together. WWB exists to connect musicians across borders, instruments, and genres — and to give every collaboration a home, from the first note to the final video clip.
Who is it for?
- Project owners — musicians or producers who want to build a collaborative piece. They set the backing track, invite players, and mix everything in the Studio.
- Session musicians — instrumentalists and vocalists who join projects, record their part, and contribute to someone else's vision.
- Hobbyists and professionals alike — designed to feel approachable whether you're recording a bedroom cover or a professional arrangement.
How it started
WWB was born out of a feeling many musicians know well. Life gets full — career, family, commitments — and music, the thing you love most, quietly moves to the side. The idea of starting a new project sounds exciting until you think about everything it involves: coordinating schedules with other musicians, booking and traveling to a studio, hauling equipment, finding a free evening that works for everyone. The friction is real, and for most people it wins.
WWB was built to remove that friction entirely. Record in your living room, at midnight, in your pajamas, at your own pace. No studio. No travel. No scheduling calls. Just open the browser, press record, and contribute your part — then hear how it fits with everyone else's. That internal drive to make music doesn't go away. WWB gives it a place to land.
The platform is currently in closed beta, growing carefully with invited musicians. We're continuously improving based on real feedback from real players.
Pricing
World Wide Band does not run ads and does not pay musicians per view or stream. It is a collaboration workspace — not a streaming or monetization platform.
During the current beta period, all invited members have full access at no charge. As WWB grows beyond beta, we plan to introduce a subscription model: a free tier will remain available with some usage limits, while paid plans will offer expanded access — more projects, higher storage, and additional features. Details will be announced to current members well in advance of any changes.

The Collaboration Flow
Create a Project
Any registered member can start a project. Give it a title, genre, and a short description. Choose which instruments you need — you'll invite players for each one.
Set a Reference Track (optional)
You can give the project a shared reference — a Backing Track (BT) — that all musicians hear while recording. This can be a URL to a streaming video or an uploaded audio/video file. A backing track is not required: if you have an original composition, you can record the first part yourself and others will record against your take.
Invite Musicians
Search for other WWB members and send them an invitation to join your project for a specific instrument. Invited musicians receive an email notification and can accept from their profile.
Musicians Record Their Parts
Each accepted musician opens the Jamming Room and records directly in the browser — audio only, or audio and video. The end result sounds as if everyone recorded together live in a studio.
Mix in the Studio
Once recordings are in, the project owner opens the Studio — a browser-based mixer with DAW-style features. Adjust volume, panning, and additional effects per track. Musicians can submit mix suggestions that the owner can approve or reject.
Export & Share
Export the finished mix as an MP3 or produce a video clip using the built-in video editing tool. The export runs on our server — no special hardware needed. Projects also appear on the WWB homepage where anyone can listen or watch.

Welcome to World Wide Band ("WWB", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using our platform at ww-band.com, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use WWB. During the current beta period, registration requires an invitation token sent by the WWB team. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password secure and not sharing your account.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Providing accurate information during registration (email, username).
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice.
2. Your Content
You own what you record. Any audio or video recording you upload to WWB remains your property. By uploading it, you grant WWB a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, serve, display, and share your recording for the purpose of operating the service.
This includes, but is not limited to: playing your recording back to collaborators on the same project; including it in a mixed export; displaying it on the WWB public homepage; and sharing a link to the project or export on WWB's own social media channels or other promotional materials.
Public links and virality. Projects on WWB can generate shareable links — similar to a link to a YouTube video. Once a link is shared by WWB or by any user (for example, via WhatsApp, Facebook, or any other network), WWB has no control over who views the content or how widely it spreads. By uploading a recording and participating in a project, you acknowledge and accept that your performance may become publicly accessible in this way.
You represent that you have the right to upload any content you submit — including that you are the performer on the recording and are not infringing any third party's rights.
3. Backing Tracks & Third-Party Content
Projects on WWB may include a shared reference track (Backing Track). A BT is optional — projects can also be built from original recordings without one. When used, a BT may be set by:
- Linking a URL to a streaming video — subject to that platform's Terms of Service.
- Uploading an audio or video file — you are solely responsible for having the legal right to use this file as a reference track for your project.
WWB does not verify your rights to any backing track. Using a BT you do not have the right to use is your legal responsibility.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or illegal.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the platform.
- Use the platform to distribute malware or spam.
- Upload copyrighted audio or video you do not have rights to, in a way that infringes copyright law.
5. Project Collaboration
When you join a project as a musician:
- Your recordings are visible to all accepted members of that project and to the project owner.
- The project owner controls the final mix and export.
- Finished projects and open projects may be displayed publicly on the WWB homepage.
- You can submit mix suggestions ("change requests") to the owner, who may approve or reject them.
You may request removal of your track from a project by contacting us or the project owner. We will make reasonable efforts to comply, but exported files that have already been downloaded cannot be recalled.
6. No Monetisation
WWB is a collaboration workspace, not a streaming or revenue-sharing platform. We do not run advertisements, pay royalties, or share revenue with users based on plays or views. We may introduce optional paid plans in the future for additional features; these will be clearly disclosed.
7. Account Deactivation
You may deactivate your account at any time from your Profile page. Deactivation has the following effects:
- Your account is marked inactive and you can no longer log in.
- Your email address and username are retained in our records. This is necessary to allow you to re-register with the same email in the future, which will reactivate your account.
- Projects you owned that were not yet marked as done — and all recordings within them — are permanently deleted from our servers.
- Projects marked as done, and any recordings you contributed to them, remain on the platform. These projects may continue to be publicly accessible.
Re-registration. If you register again using the same email address, your account is reactivated with the same profile. Any content that was retained (done projects and their tracks) becomes associated with your reactivated account again.
Full erasure requests. If you wish to have your email address and all associated data permanently deleted from our records — including from done projects — please contact us. We will process the request, subject to any legal retention obligations. Note that exported files already downloaded by other users cannot be recalled.
We may suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion for violations of these Terms.
8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
WWB is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be notified by email. Continued use of WWB after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
Privacy Policy

Account data
- Email address — used for login, email verification, and notifications.
- Username — publicly visible on the platform.
- Password — stored as a secure hash; we never store your plain-text password.
- Profile information — optional bio, avatar image, and instrument preferences you choose to provide.
Content you create
- Recordings — audio and optional video files you record and upload, stored on our server within your project.
- Project data — titles, descriptions, genres, mix settings, backing track references.
- Comments and messages — project chat comments and InMail messages between members.
Usage data
- Request logs: URL path, HTTP method, status code, data size, response time — stored anonymously in our analytics database.
- We do not use third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel).
Data stored locally on your device (not on our server)
- Draft recordings — unsent takes are saved in your browser's local storage, never uploaded until you click "Upload".
3. How We Use Your Data
- To create and operate your account.
- To send you email verification codes, project invitations, and collaboration notifications.
- To play back and mix your recordings within the platform.
- To display your username and avatar in projects you participate in and on the public homepage.
- To measure platform performance and improve the service (anonymous usage analytics only).
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for profiling.
4. Third-Party Services
Third-party video players
When a project uses a streaming video URL as a backing track, the video player is loaded from that platform's servers. The originating platform's own privacy policy and cookies apply to that content. We do not transmit your personal data to these platforms.
Transactional email
We use a third-party email delivery service to send transactional emails (verification codes, invitations, export-ready notifications). Your email address is shared with this service solely for the purpose of delivering these messages.
5. Data Retention
- When you deactivate your account via the Profile page, your email address and username are retained in our records to allow reactivation. Non-completed project recordings are deleted. Recordings within completed projects remain on the platform.
- If you request full permanent deletion (see section 6), your email address and all associated personal data will be removed, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Usage analytics logs are retained for up to 12 months.
- Email verification codes expire within minutes and are deleted after use.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Union or EEA, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data via your Profile settings.
- Deactivation — suspend your account at any time from your Profile page. Your email and username are retained to allow reactivation (see section 5).
- Full erasure — request permanent deletion of your account and all personal data by contacting us directly. This is distinct from self-deactivation and is processed by our team, subject to the conditions described in section 5.
- Portability — request your recordings and account data in a portable format.
- Objection — object to processing. Note: some processing is necessary to operate the service.

7. Cookies & Local Storage
We use a single session cookie for authentication (HTTP-only, same-site). We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Draft recordings are saved in your browser's local storage and never leave your device unless you explicitly upload them.
8. Children's Privacy
WWB is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you by email of material changes. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
Copyright Policy

1. Ownership of Recordings
When you record and upload audio or video to World Wide Band, you retain full copyright ownership of your performance. WWB does not claim ownership of any recordings uploaded by users.
By uploading a recording, you grant WWB a limited licence to store, serve, and display that recording within the platform — to collaborators on your project, in the exported mix, and on the public homepage carousel. This licence is non-exclusive and limited to platform operation only.
2. Backing Tracks — Your Responsibility
Projects on WWB may include a Backing Track (BT) — an optional reference audio or video that musicians record against. A BT is not required. When used, you may provide one by:
- Linking a URL to a streaming video.
- Uploading your own audio or video file.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to use any backing track you set for a project. Using a copyrighted recording as a BT without a licence may infringe the rights of the copyright holder. Common legal backing tracks include:
- Tracks you composed or produced yourself.
- Tracks released under a Creative Commons or other open licence.
- Tracks for which you have obtained a sync or mechanical licence.
- Tracks in the public domain.
WWB does not vet or verify the copyright status of any backing track. We do not facilitate or encourage infringement.
3. Exports & Published Video Clips
When a project is exported as an audio mix or published as a video clip, the resulting file contains the combined performances of all participating musicians. The backing track is not included in the export or the published video — only the musicians' own recorded parts. The copyright of the result is therefore shared among the contributors, each retaining ownership of their individual performance.
Because no backing track material is included in the export, responsibility for the exported content rests with the contributing musicians and the project owner, in proportion to their respective performances.
4. Streamed Reference Content
When a URL to a streaming video is set as a backing track, the content is played in the browser directly from the source platform — it is not downloaded or re-hosted by WWB. That content remains subject to the originating platform's Terms of Service and copyright policies.
WWB does not extract, store, or redistribute streamed audio from third-party platforms.
5. Public Visibility
By using WWB and contributing to a project, you agree that your recorded performances may be visible to the public. Projects can be previewed directly on the platform, and shareable links to projects or exported clips can be distributed freely — including on social media, messaging apps, or any other channel — by WWB or by any user. Once a link is shared, its reach is unlimited and cannot be controlled or reversed.
This applies regardless of the number of participants in a project. There is no opt-out from public visibility for content that has already been shared via a link.
6. Copyright Infringement Claims (DMCA)
If you believe that content on WWB infringes your copyright, please send a notice to us containing:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- Identification of the specific material on WWB that is allegedly infringing, with enough detail to locate it (e.g., project URL).
- Your contact information (name, email, address).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your signature (electronic or physical).

We will review valid notices and remove or disable access to infringing content promptly. We will also notify the user who uploaded the content.
7. Repeat Infringers
WWB will terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright in accordance with applicable law.
